Ever since I was two years old, I have been going to Puerto Vallarta with my family. It has become a very special place in my life. About 10 years ago, we were introduced to a small town about 20 minutes North of Puerto Vallarta Airport. Long story short, we fell in love and went on several family vacations there and in 2015 my parents decided to put some roots down in our favourite little Mexican town and bought themselves a Mexican home.
I decided that I should write a post as we have been going to Puerto Vallarta area for nearly my entire life. If you are headed to Puerto Vallarta, you HAVE to go check out our favourite little town, Bucerias.
Where to Stay:
We fell in love with Bucerias when we stayed not too far away in Nuevo Vallarta. There are some amazing hotels to stay at in Nuevo as well. Our favourite resort is, Villa del Palmar Flamingos.
We have been able to see several condos that people often rent out in Bucerias. I absolutely love staying in condos, you have the flexibility of having your own kitchen to make meals whenever needed and the luxury of going out for dinners and not being locked into the food at the hotel. You can find condos on Airbnb, VRBO, and directly through owners as well.
My parents rent out their beautiful condo, as a three bedroom, three bathroom unit or there is an option for just two bedrooms if that's all you need. If you want to check out their condo, click the link below:
One of our favourite parts about Bucerias, is the ability to get the local experience and Mexican charm, while still going and doing touristy activities when we want. We have some excursions we have done several times because of how much we loved them.
Chica Locca Boat Tour (this is definitely our favourite tour in the Vallarta area)
Vallarta Adventures Excursions (Often they have special deals, where you can buy two excursions and get the third one free):
Rhythm's of the Night
Extreme Zip Line Adventure
Las Caletas Beach Hideaway
Outdoor Zip Line Adventure
We love going to the little Mexican markets in neighbouring towns. They have delicious food stands, clothes, art, jewellery, and the list goes on. Some of my favourites I got this year, was a homemade barbecue sauce, granola, guacamole, salsa, and banana bread. I guess you could say I like the food from the market. Their food is extremely fresh and is made with no preservatives. If you are going to the markets, you can take a collectivo (mini bus) or a taxi will know how to get your there as well.
Bucerias Market - Wednesday's from 9am - 2pm
La Cruz Market - Sunday's from 9am - 2pm
San Pancho Market - Tuesday's from 10am - 1:30pm
The restaurants in Bucerias are to die for. I think part of it has to do with the various types of cuisine and people coming from Italy, France, Greece, etc to Mexico and making their country's traditional food. I always tell people, it is definitely some of the best food I have ever had.
Here are some of our favourites:
Bars with Live Music:
Dinner & Show:
Luna Lounge (Our favourite show is Crazy Senoritas, it is an absolutely hilarious drag show)
If you are heading to Puerto Vallarta, I highly recommend you check out Bucerias. You will be so happy you did. If you have any questions about the area, feel free to send me a message!
